Harleysville National Bank is proud to again sponsor the Lansdale Public Library’s 17th Annual International Spring Festival. This special community event will be held at the North Penn High School, 1340 Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, on Saturday, April 19, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Free to the public, the Festival showcases the cultures of China, Ireland, Argentina, the Philippines, Ukraine and Peru (just to name a few) through food, performances, crafts and cultural displays.
The Festival is the library’s largest program, as well as the biggest multi-cultural festival in Montgomery County. Last year, more than 3,500 people experienced 131 different cultural displays. A favorite part of each year’s festival is a sampling of different ethnic food, available for purchase; for the less adventurous, hot dogs and pizza are also available. This year, there are many performers that will highlight their cultures through the arts. Artists slated to perform are Voloshky’s Ukrainian Dance Ensemble; Obidiah, an African drum and dance ensemble; the Steve Cairn Jazz Quartet; Lenny Gordon and the Soul Senders; and many more international singers and dancers. There are also a variety of children’s activities including a passport program and a special crafts room, where children can try ethnic costumes, musical instruments and crafts. Handmade goods will also available for purchase.
For more information on this cultural extravaganza or to volunteer, visit www.lansdalelibrary.org or contact the Lansdale Public Library at 215-362-2666. Hope to see you there!
